My name is Barbara and I am an Independent Midwife offering complete care through pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Apart from that I specialise in supporting babies with feeding issues as well as families with complex children (ASD, ADHD, PANS/PANDAS etc).
But first and foremost I am a mum of 4 amazing kids. I was a keen ITU nurse until I became pregnant with my first daughter (she is 22 years old now) - this experience inspired me to embark on a midwife journey and I never looked back. Three years later during a free birth of my second daughter I discovered the true power of woman’s body and birth. My passion for home birth was sparked.
With my first son, six years later, I learned how challenging breastfeeding beginnings can be which then led me to explore infant feeding in depth and become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I became pregnant with our youngest son when I was 40 years old, after a traumatic miscarriage which I thought was my last chance to have another baby. I was able to exercise assertiveness in making my choices a reality and managed to have an amazing home birth despite the odds.
Having my own children and supporting hundreds of families on their childbearing journeys, I know very well that every child is different. But oh boy what a steep learning curve has it been with our youngest! From tongue tie to ADHD, from stress management and various upbringing strategies to ‘free from’ diets. Thanks to him I qualified in craniosacral therapy at CCST, trained in holistic treatment of tongue ties and oral dysfunction with Carmelle Gentle, and embarked on studying Homeopathy at CHE.
During the years I have worked as an independent home birth midwife as well as an NHS midwife. I have studied in depth herbs and aromatherapy to better support the families seeking more natural ways to keep healthy. I am passionate about freedom of choice and informed decisions. I strongly believe that there is no ‘one size fits all’ and there is always more than one option.
